We are proud to have delivered a complete, high-spec Endeavour Volvo workshop, officially open and operational as of 7 December 2023. From concept and design through to handover, this project demonstrates our ability to deliver a complete, manufacturer-standard workshop solution, ready to operate from day one.

Project Brief

Workshop fitout project required to cover everything from initial workshop design and layout planning through to final commissioning. To be designed in line with Volvo standards, the workshop needed to incorporate VPS walling systems, creating a clean, structured, and highly efficient working environment.

We supplied and installed everything required to deliver a fully compliant, modern facility built for performance and reliability. The Hyundai North London dealership (part of the Endeavour Automotive Group) is located in Southgate, north London, having moved in 2018 from their previous site on the West Hendon Broadway. This site is a flagship dealership for Hyundai in the UK. Like many of our clients, we’ve known and worked with them for over 20 years across a number of franchises.

Project Brief

Hyundai was going through a period of investing heavily in its brand across the UK and so the brief for this project was substantial. It involved the complete redesign and installation of a new workshop, approximately 400m2, including garage equipment and liquid engineering systems.

The Outcome

With such a large and, potentially, complex project, we knew we had to approach the design phase with caution to ensure that we’d accounted for everything prior to installation, at which point remedying errors would be far more expensive. With careful planning, it turned out to be a fairly straightforward project, including the design of the MOT bay, which initially sounded quite complex, as it was designed into the shape of the proposed area and also incorporated the latest wheel alignment equipment. This was overcome by close liaison and coordination with the other mechanical and electrical designs to meet the DVSA approvals. During the design phase, there was much discussion about how the cabinets would fit around existing infrastructure including the concrete columns which were holding the building up. There were few straight lines and perfect angles, so to install the cabinets to Hyundai’s specification, we had to disguise all and any imperfections and create a uniform appearance along the wall which also hid the unattractive concrete columns. We did this by pulling the cabinetry forward along an artificial straight line and manufacturing custom end panels to ensure a polished and professional finish.

Army Reserve

Our Clients

The Army Reserve, formerly known as the Territorial Army, provides support to the Regular Army at home and overseas. They are based around the UK at a number of sites. At PGE, we have developed a strong working relationship with the Army Reserve over recent years and assist them with a range of projects.

Project Brief

In the summer of 2020, we were asked to attend site to inspect damage, caused by an impact, to the main gym shutter door. As a result of the damage, the door was unusable. Our engineer visited the site and carried out a digital risk assessment to establish the extent of works required. His recommendation was to replace all the laths (the horizontal metal slats which make up the main structure of the door). The estates office agreed with our recommendations and gave us the go-ahead to carry out the works as required.

The Outcome

During the first stage of the project, we removed the canopy to expose the head of the shutter door. We were able to detach the damaged laths, ensuring the site was kept tidy and hazard-free throughout. New laths with new end locks and a new bottom T-section were fitted and the barrel was re-tensioned appropriately. After thorough testing, our technicians refitted the canopy and retested the entire door to ensure it was fully operational. We also tested the original safety pins which were still in good condition and checked that the required signage, with instructions on how to operate the door, could be clearly seen.

Premier's team handled all the paperwork, risk assessments and on-site safety requirements without any prompting. The door was repaired quickly and the site was left clean and clear. Professional throughout.

Millbrook Proving Ground

Millbrook Proving Ground, based in Bedfordshire and named after the decades-old General Motors Proving Ground in the USA, is a market leader in vehicle testing and validation services with sites in the UK, USA and Europe. Founded by Vauxhall in the 1960s, Millbrook has evolved throughout the years and is now a world-leading vehicle testing centre catering to a range of industries including automotive, transport, tyre, petrochemical and defence. It’s also a corporate entertainment venue offering off road track facilities as well as a popular choice for location film sets including the James Bond franchise. Our relationship with Millbrook started by chance when we were asked to repair some garage equipment. Satisfied with the quality of our work, the jobs kept coming and several years down the line, we are a loyal and trusted supplier. PGE has partnered with Millbrook for nearly a decade on a range of projects including garage equipment supply and maintenance across the vast 300 acre site. All our technicians who work on Millbrook projects are specially trained (with training updates every three years) and must be approved to work in all areas of the Millbrook site unaccompanied, including crash labs which are partially restricted. This guarantees peace of mind for the client and ensures a smooth, hassle-free process.

Project Brief

With around 60 vehicle lifts and 120 industrial doors on site, all in regular use, scheduled maintenance is essential. One of our technicians will visit the site Twice each year and be on site for at least one month in total to assess the condition of each lift and door, this enable us to then submit a quotation for the repairs to ensure the equipment is in first class condition. Fume extraction It’s always been essential that Millbrook complies fully with health and safety legislation. To achieve this has required significant investment in fume extraction equipment – an area which we specialise in. Over the years, we’ve installed thousands of pounds worth of fume extraction equipment across a range of individual projects. New equipment installation The site at Millbrook is constantly evolving. When new buildings are added, this may call for more lifts or industrial doors which we are asked to install and subsequently include in our rolling maintenance programme.

The Outcome

Our relationship with Millbrook has flourished because we are committed to providing the highest quality workmanship even when timescales are demanding and conditions are challenging. Millbrook’s clients usually build penalty clauses into their contracts which means that Millbrook’s own suppliers and contractors must be able to respond quickly when needed. In the past, we have worked during the weekend and late into the night to get a job done. All our technicians who work on Millbrook projects are specially trained (with training updates every three years) and must be approved to work in all areas of the Millbrook site unaccompanied, including crash labs which are partially restricted. This guarantees peace of mind for the client and ensures a smooth, hassle-free process. We are also great at problem solving. If Millbrook needs a lift for a specific vehicle, they tend to come to us and ask us to make a suitable recommendation. Due to the nature of their business, the briefs can vary significantly from one day to the next and the workshops they must kit out are similarly varied; from super cars, to vans, to industrial equipment. No two briefs are the same and over the years, Millbrook has learned that we can be as flexible as they need us to be. No job is too large, too small or too complex. We help to support their business priorities by working efficiently at all times, ensuring the right equipment is in place exactly then they need it to ensure they are fully operational throughout the year.

Our Clients

The Holden Group in Norwich, Norfolk is a franchise dealership for multiple automotive brands including Renault, Volvo, Honda and commercial vehicles. We were introduced to the Holden Group through our links with Volvo and had initially been asked to quote for the installation of a new VRE concept. Thanks to our reputation with Volvo and our track record of delivering liquid engineering projects, we were successful in winning this new business.

Project Brief

This project involved a restructure of workshop space which required a new tank farm with significant capacity: up to 8,000 litres oil storage and a waste oil tank with 4,700 litre capacity. With three franchises on site, historically there had been three workshops, one each for Renault, Volvo and Honda. There were plans to build a showroom extension which necessitated the loss of one workshop. We were tasked with consolidating three workshops into two, combining Renault and Volvo into one. This required a rethink of oil management systems which required the correct oil grades to be routed to the correct franchise in their new locations, as well as the handling of waste oil.

The Outcome

To create the new tank farm, we had to remove and dispose of the old tanks prior to installing new pipework, new tanks, new pumps and a new alarm system. Where pipework existed, our aim was to use as much of it as possible which we were able to do. The new pipework was used primarily to route the oil to its new locations. In the new tank farm, there are now four grades of oil distributed to each franchise via underground ducts, each grade in tanks with a 2,000 litre capacity. And it goes without saying that the new tank farm is fully compliant with oil storage regulations. Following completion of this project, we are still working with the Holden Group on the ongoing development of this site and other Holden sites.

Thanks to PGE, the creation of this new tank farm was completely straightforward. We had been nervous prior to the project commencing due to the complex nature of the site, the existing infrastructure and the potential hazards always present when moving oil tanks and related components. We knew that PGE had the necessarily skills for the job but to see a potentially complicated project be delivered in just two weeks without any hiccups was impressive. There was always someone on hand to chat to and to discuss any project amendments and their ability to interpret the regulations for us and reassure us that we would be fully compliant was always appreciated. Thanks to the PGE team, the cost savings to our business are already being realised. A great supplier to partner with, we highly recommend them.

Project Brief

Pulse Pro gives workshops much better visibility and control over oil usage. It allows the business to monitor fluid dispensing accurately, keep track of stock levels and understand where and when oil is being used.

The Outcome

Transparency – every drop of oil can be monitored and recorded automatically. Accountability – oil usage can be traced back to individual dispensing points, helping identify discrepancies or unusual usage. DMS integration – data can be captured and integrated with compatible dealer management systems, helping streamline administration and reporting. Inventory control – fluid levels can be monitored more closely, making it easier to plan deliveries and avoid running low on essential oils. Reduced waste – accurate metering and monitoring can help reduce unnecessary fluid loss and improve overall workshop efficiency. Better reporting – management teams have clearer information on oil usage, stock and dispensing activity across the workshop.
